The title "Chartered" when related to a building surveyor, is a protected title and only those who have earned membership into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have the right to use it. The title shows that a surveyor has achieved the 'gold standard' of professional competence. Chartered Building Surveyors are specifically educated and trained to carry out building inspections and other related services so you can be assured of the highest standards. A Chartered Surveyor must also adhere to a set of practice standards and codes of practice which can be found at www.rics.org. The RICS practice standards and codes of practice are internationally renowned and regarded as a true mark of quality. All Chartered Building Surveyors must also carry comprehensive Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance.
